The most beautiful villages of France can be found nearby, on the flanks of the vineyards and forests in the Vaucluse: Crestet, Brants, Entrechaux, Venasque, Vaqueras, Suzette, they form a beautiful bike or car route in their own right. The route is the journey.
Some of the perched hill top villages in this part of the provence are full of character and ideal for stolling around. Having an apero or lunch. Within a range of 30km not only big hisorical known city's as Avignon and Orange are worthful, several villages are labeled as "most beautiful villages in France"

Malaucène a brief guide
Malaucène is a Medieval town located on the road between Carpentras and Vaison-la-Romaine. The typical Provencal village dates from the 10th century. The beautiful countryside surrounding the village is the main draw for its visitors. The traditional weekly Provencal market on Wednesdays where many regional products are for sale and excellent wineries are unique and not to be missed.
Malaucène is the starting point for several hiking trails that lead to Mont-Ventoux. The most famous village walk leads to the top of Calvaire in the village centre, where you can enjoy beautiful 360° panoramic view over the village and the surrounding region. Admire the Mont Ventoux, les Palivettes (good luck to find our house) and the Dentelles de Montmirail. You will immediately agree that the Vaucluse is rightly known for its beautiful landscape.
